Please see calendar (usually October) for this year’s dates.
This is an annual competition where everyone in the club should have an equal chance of winning, via our handicap system. It also provides a great opportunity to play against new opponents and meet other club members.
Entry into this tournament is on a first come first served basis with 32 places available.
Each match is decided on the best of five basis, using American scoring, and with the starting position reflecting players’ relative rankings at the end of August. Markers will be provided where possible and definitely from the quarter-finals onwards. The details of the handicap system are described below, but don’t worry about memorising this – the organisers will be on hand to provide starting scores and answer any questions.
Rounds will be played on a number of days with the first round matches on the first Saturday, ending up with the final on a Friday evening 23rd October. The entry fee is usually nominal (£5) and covers all match fees for matches played during the designated times (court fees will be applicable if matches are played outside of these times).
You can sign up by replying to emails sent by the club or in person at the club. We will then publish first round fixtures, with the day and time of your opening match, about two weeks before.
If you’d like to know any more details, then please contact Kim Robinson (Tournament Director) or Grahame Formby.
